I have had a lot of questions why I am so close inshore. Well, I have only a limited number of Gwen Curry's that I am trying to save, so I went to the beach to see if I could get a pizza delivery. The order got screwed up and I got spagetti with meat sauce instead. I have been looking for wind, and found a narrow band of breeze on the shore as the land heated up. By late afternoon I had passed the land and now the wind is gone again. It is also the shortest distance to Charleston and I am doing everything I can to stay ahead of Minuro who is breathing down my back.

I have been saddened to learn about the killings in an American school. Out here one is so safe, but I think of the sadness in over 25 homes. This is becoming a too often a thing happening in society, and the issue of youth violence has to be addressed. One of the programs we have done with some of our No Barriers youth has been conflict resolution. I would like to see more youth involved in sailing programs as it forces them to address problems. In team sailing, we have to all work together, and live together. We can channel energies in a positive way, and try to get along. I am glad to be at sea. I passed close to Victoria, Brazil. I guess Cockie jumped ship in Punta. I have not seen him. If I had, I would be charging for this Brazilian cruise. Passed real close to some small fishing boats about 14 miles offshore.

Had one of Gwen's curries. Saw Cockie, the roach. Will have to charge him rent. Have a sore throat and called Dr. Carlin for medical advice. 24 hr run was 64 miles, but have found wind and moving. Did some maintenance on engine and trying to sort out battery problem. It is hot out here.

Cockie is alive. Last night I spotted him in the galley. He decided not to jump ship in Punta. Now lets hope he did not go out and get company, like a Mrs. Roach. The wind has continued to stay with us, but then this afternoon it died away as it went NE. It is a race between Minoru and I. He has more boat speed than me, but somehow I am still ,for the time being, able to hold onto my lead over him. I am exhausted from the lack of proper rest. Still have problems charging batteries. Frustrated by comms failure too.
