NE trades are fresh. Enough to warrant a reef in the main and a partially furled Genoa. Minuro has passed me. We are reaching and there is nothing I can do with my 10 foot shorter vessel to hang on to him. I ate a stew Gwen made. I was real hungry. But I think of the many people who did not have a meal last night, nor one tonight and no prospect of a regular meal. So I count my blessings that I can eat today. Working on Journey of Hope Merchant, writing was hard. I have taken a new angle to the book, one that is incredibly challenging and will take longer to finish. I turned down a speaking engagement. Never thought that day would come when I could pick and choose what I wanted to do. I think about the future a lot now as this race starts to draw to a close. I have so many options with my life now that this challenge is nearly complete. I will have the time and energy only to follow a few, so soon I need to choose, which is hard, yet it is good. I too need to think about where in the world I will live once I get ashore. There are so many changes in my life and so many questions that need answering.

I did a 178 mile run in 24 hr. Steady NE trades. Have not touched the sails or tiller all day. Spent time writing and concentrating on business. Spending huge amount of time on the Satphone. In my new book I will be interviewing people with No Barriers attitudes to demonstrate key points. Started a list of who I want. Some famous and well known, some never heard of but with valuable knowledge to contribute. Two people so far I want to interview for their challenges and contributions are Dr. Katrina Lewis and Nick Puchetti. Others I want to interview will take me to Europe, the Caribbean and maybe even back to Africa. Never thought that I would enjoy this challenge as much.

Skippers log #30
Well, my computer won't allow me to send messages at all this morning. But, nonetheless, we've had decent progress with the NE trade. It has still been quite fresh. I was able to get a fairly good session of snooze in. I have had to pump the bilges every two to three hours, which has been a bit of a nuisance. We have had to do it for I don't know how many thousands of miles now, so it is just something to live with till we get to port. I'm eating leftovers and listening to my CD player. The CD player had been given originally by one of my sponsors, Prudential, and then was replaced, after that one broke, by a supporter.
