Skippers log #36

Did 154nm 24 hour run. During middle of night did spinnaker change to heavier weight and smaller spinnaker. North of caribbean and very hot. Still no fish, though broke two hooks. Less than 10 days to go. 1,292nm left. Going to be fine on food. Balance Bar not pulling away fast presently, and holding Minuro off still. Very tactical sailing to the end.

Wind gone light. Progress slowing down. Had gusty wind at dawn. Put two small tears in spinnaker. Feeling very tired. Been busy day on phone preparing for business. Going back into driving seat immediately on arrival. Got several speaking contract inquiries that need to be secured. Trying to flesh out bones of a television deal. Much work if its to be achieved. Past Caribbean now. Must return there soon. Looking forward to getting back with our No Barriers schools and back to Rotary. Its all nearly over, and mixed feelings. Have to start making arrangements to travel to Europe. Watched a jet flying to Europe. Thinking that they would be at their destination before I had time for my next nap.

They were motoring to bermuda for fuel then on to Newport,RI. My mother arrives in Charleston tonight. Who knows when I will.

Progress is still slow. 24-hr run of 105nm. Have broken the 1,000 mile barrier. Have 927nm to go. Still not caught a fish. Under spinnaker. Asymmetrical spinnaker was a really good investment as it's whats keeping me moving. Hearing a lot of traffic on radio. Ships in the area. Just saw a fishing factory ship. It was talking to another ship and I could make out they were talking about the red yacht, in spanish.
