The No-Barriers Education Foundation's mission is to teach children to believe in themselves, inspire youth to set goals, and demonstrate that in obtaining and applying an education, dreams can come true. The Foundation conducts several activities from community outreach programs, to adventure learning via solo ocean yacht racing.

Neal Petersen is the founder and executive director of the Foundation. Neal is an award-winning author, professional speaker, and adventurer who has touched the lives of millions of people on five continents with his personal story of achievement and conquest.
Neal grew up in apartheid-dominated South Africa with a dream of becoming a solo yachtsman. In spite of a physical handicap and lack of access to the expensive world of yacht racing, he went on to build his yacht, No-Barriers. The Foundation entered a yacht in the Around Alone 1998-99, a 27,000 solo race around the world, with Neal Petersen as the skipper of the vessel. The race began in Charleston, South Carolina in September 1998 and with stop overs in South Africa, New Zealand, Uruguay, and back to Charleston.
The Foundation's community outreach program worked with seven No-Barriers schools in Charleston, a two year commitment to share every aspect of this adventure with students and to demonstrate Neal's philosophy that…"In Life, There Are No Barriers - Only Solutions!"
