Skipper's Log #5

I have lost track of time. I thought it was Thursday. Going along slowly tonight. This am I had a 30 kn squall at sunrise. I helmed through it with just the mainsail. Opportunity to have a hair & body wash, even though it was cold & pelting. One of the luxuries I miss is a daily shower. Even had time for a shave. My all-over tan is getting better. Try to stay out of the sun as much as I can. It is hot. Ran engine for 5 hours to get batteries up. Felt listless today. Fixed a curry for dinner (sent photo) but not one of Gwen's. Saving hers for sunday treat. Still studying the clouds. Talked again with Herb the weather guru. He has been giving boats in the Atlantic weather info for 11 years now. Several of us in the fleet come up & hear what he has to say. My built in barometer is being painful. My hip hurts. It means there must be a cold front not too far away. Herb says it the remnants of hurricane Georges. I wish that I had studied meteorology. It is such a fascinating science. I have enough to get by with, but I want to know why systems travel where they do, how they form & grow into storms. My school knowledge of this is not enough. I feel better having eaten. It is surprising how tired one gets out here.
