“No barriers – Only Solutions”

SPEAKER:

International keynote speaker, award winning author and Cape Town-born Neal Petersen has completed two amazing journeys in his life: a single-handed yacht race around the world, 27,000 miles, 9 months at sea, alone – and in a yacht he designed and built in Mossel Bay. And an even more arduous and eventful trip of overcoming racial prejudice during the harsh Apartheid era, economic hardship, and a childhood physical disability of being born with only one hip socket, just to make it to the start line!

Racing around the world involves not just an exploration of the oceans, but of oneself.

Neal has always defined himself by what he can imagine – rather than how others would define him. His description of how he sustained his dream in the face of numerous obstacles is a compelling part of his riveting life story. Neal’s mother, Dr Stella Petersen, a graduate of UCT in the 1940’s and the first woman of color to be awarded a UCT scholarship to study abroad, played a significant role in not just Neal’s life, but empowered many South Africans to reach for greater significance. She received an Honorary Doctorate from UCT just prior to her death in June 2011.

Neal’s description of how to set ones goals and then map the steps to acquire the knowledge and skills to achieve these goals is a compelling story. He possesses a great sense of adventure, a pioneering spirit, a visionary, fearless risk-taker whose goals and aspirations embrace and include countries around the globe.

Establishing trust and personal responsibility is part of the foundation of leadership and achievement. In addition to Neal’s plain guts and determination that drove his success, you will hear about the values and ethics that frame his goals and achievements – and how these values power options.

Neal’s ability to apply his own attitudes, values and experiences to reflect on the values and mission of others will ignite the true spirit of passion, not only for today’s success, but more importantly ~ tomorrow’s significance! What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

In sharing his high-impact, unique and extraordinary life-story, Neal delivers a powerful message that In Life There Are No Barriers – Only Solutions!
